Training & Development
Sammamish Little League recognizes the value that training can be in the development of its players, especially those focusing on the core baseball and softball skills. We are not resourced to extensively fund these type of activities but we do our best to identify those offered by local, trusted organizations and try to partner with them to offer their services at discounted rates for our members.
Sammamish Little League endorses the following local baseball skill development programs and clinics:
- Baseball Positive
- Field of Champions
- Mariners Camps
- PCA Development Zone
- Proactive Coaching podcasts
- Sammamish Baseball Academy
Baseball Positive Partnership
Sammamish Little League is proud to partner with Baseball Positive to offer quality, professional trainings and camps and clinics at discounted rates. Over the past three years, Baseball Positive has become our most trusted training partner as founder Mark Linden and his team have dedicated themselves to the development of youth baseball. Baseball Positive Summer Camps:
Ages: 6-7 (12 kids), 8-9 (18 kids), 10-12 (18 kids)
Dates: Aug 13-16 (M-Th), 1:30pm-4:30pm
Location: Beaver Lake Ballfields (2 of the 3 fields)
SLL kids are provided an expertly designed, age appropriate camp close to home. The camp content parallels, and reinforces, what is taught in the BP Coach and Player Training Programs that SLL is currently participating in. The objective of camp participation is for the kids to experience consistency in the message from two different sources: 1. Their spring league coaches, 2. The professional instructors in the summer camp setting.
BP runs approximately 15 camps throughout King and S. Snohomish Counties with leagues that participate in its Coach and Player Training Programs. Kids who cannot participate in the Gateway MS Games Camp, or want to participate in more than one camp, may attend at another Baseball Positive Games Camp location.
The Games Camp gives kids training not usually offered by traditional camps. Players are taught ‘How to Play the Game’ in addition to fundamental skills. Comprehensive instruction of the batting swing, throwing, catching, fielding and base running skills are taught, as well as coordinated team play.
Most of camp time is spent playing games - The kids learn through their PLAY! Having FUN is the primary goal of the camp, and FUN can be had while learning. The structure and content of the camp is the result of 15 years of trial and error, and modifications to improve the teaching, making the Baseball Positive Games Camp experience second to none.
Each camp instructor is expertly trained in the Baseball Positive teaching system. During all camp activities, BP’s instructors are constantly giving the kids feedback; acknowledging and praising them when they do things right, while teaching and making corrections using a positive approach, so that all kids leave the camp better players.
Mariners Grand Slam Camps & Partnership
The Mariners offer summer baseball and softball camps throughout the greater Puget Sound area. Mariners Grand Slam Camps provide a unique experience developing skills for all players, whether they are beginners or advanced. Campers are grouped by age and ability and coached by professional educators, former pros and current college players. This allows the instruction and experience to match the level of the campers who attend. Please visit www.mariners.com/camps for registration info.
